Potential Future Gaming Facility in City of Kingston

On October 2, 2012 Kingston City Council passed a motion to advise the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation that it is, in principal, interested in hosting a future gaming facility.

City of Kingston Council with information on the results of a public online survey including the potential economic impact and a community impact analysis have directed staff to research and identify zoning setback best practices in gaming industry developments and report back with recommendations before January 2013 with additional funding up to the amount of $25K from the Working Fund Reserve to assist with the preparation of the policy.

We think the positive benefits outweigh the negative benefits and with services in place to deal with the negative aspects to accomplish proactive prevention including employment impact, the City would benefit from the addition of a resort style gaming facility.
